Biography

JANIS BUKUMS is a rock band founded in 2014 in Riga, Latvia by the rock musician Janis Bukums, inviting guitarists Arturs Racinskis, Arturs Liede, bassist Andrjus Januns and drummer Filips Batarags. The band's first released single and music video is the song "Slāpes" ("Thirst"), which was later included in the debut album "Alive and Different". This song marks the launch of the group's public activity. The band's first album "Alive and Different" was released in March 2015. The album features a cover song of "Creep" by "Radiohead". Latvian singer Aija Vitoliņa participates in both the song and the music video. On April 7, 2016, the band's second album "Ugunslietus" ("Firerain") was released in Latvia. On May 13, 2016, JANIS BUKUMS received " Radio SWH Broadcast Annual Award 2015" in nomination for "The Return of the Year". On June 3, 2016, the video for "Chasing Cars" from the album "Firerain" was published. On November 25, 2016, "Firerain" was released worldwide in English thanks to a deal with the German music label 7US / 7HARD. On February 7, 2017, the band published a music video for the song "She's Lying" from the album "Firerain". On February 10, 2017, JANIS BUKUMS was awarded with the "Latvian Metal Music Award 2016" nomination "Voice of the Year". On July 17, 2017, the band published single "Ice Tear" with Elza Rozentale. On October 19, 2017, the band's single "Northern Gods" became the title song of the television program "Through Hardships To ..." on Latvian TV channel "STV Pirmā". On March 12, 2018, the band released the third single "Purple Rain" from the album "Undefeated", a cover version of the 1984 Prince's original song. On June 1, 2018, the band released the fourth single and music video "Vien Tev" from the upcoming album "Undefeated", starring actress and model Lelde Dreimane. On October 19, 2018, the band published a song and video "Ordinary Story" with the Latvian "X-Factor" finalist Liga Ridere. On November 29, 2018, the band published their third album "Undefeated". On February 8, 2019, the band's guitarist Arturs Liede received the "Latvian Metal Music Annual Award 2018" in nomination for "Musician of the Year". On April 22, 2019, the band published a music video for the song "What It Is". The Riga Technical University cheerleading team participates in the song and video production . At the same time, the band is also publishes the third studio album "Undefeated" on 12 inch vinyls. The project brings together experienced artists and young musicians from different genres to create and play eclectic rock music without musical and stylistic constraints. Participants of the project during their musical career have played in major Latvian and foreign festivals, music events and clubs - "Liepājas Dzintars", "Saldus Saule", "Rock for Independence", "Sinepes un Medus", "Rock against Drugs", "Rock around the Baltic Sea” and many others. Musicians have performed in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Sweden, Germany and Spain; have been TV anchors and Radio DJs, as well as have participated in feature films, commercials, video clips and many other projects. Participated in various musical projects and recording sessions (in Latvia and abroad).
