Postmodernist Music Videos

In general, movements such as intermedia, installation art, conceptual art and multimedia, particularly involving video are described as postmodern. There are several characteristics which lend art to being postmodern; these include bricolage, the use of text prominently as the central artistic element, collage, simplification, appropriation, performance art, the recycling of past styles and themes in a modern-day context.

A fine example of a band that uses Postmodern Art would be OK-GO. Leaning more towards the use of three-dimensional artistry, since the first treadmill song that went viral over a decade ago, OK GO has already used transport jets to make a music video in microgravity, filmed hundreds of umbrella dancers from several stories high, and have used thousands of exploding paint cans and paint balloons in several videos. Most people would say that music is not rocket science, but OK GO has has made it so, with a little help of calculus and spreadsheets, and has revolutionized music to fit the times we are in - the technological age.
