Elton John has an interesting way of putting melodies into anything. Watch the video above.
Elton John's longstanding collaboration with lyricist Bernie Taupin yielded the pair more than 20 Top 10 hits, including six Number One songs. Over the course of 30 albums, John and Taupin created a body of work that balanced Beatles-styled pop with moving, elegiac ballads that remain standards today. In 2016, Elton John and Bernie Taupin celebrated a rather stunning achievement: 50 years working together as a songwriting team.
Although Elton John and Bernie Taupin are one of the most longstanding songwriting duos in the history of music, they live very separate lives. Usually, Bernie writes lyrics at home and sends them to Elton via fax. Elton then experiments with it, trying different chords and melodies until he finds the right one.
Bernie Taupin has penned hits not only for Elton John, but also for Heart ("These Dreams"), Starship ("We Built This City"), and several more.
Have you ever tried writing a melody over any given piece of literature? Like a novel, a poem, or even as strange as a newspaper, instruction manual, and others? If so, please send a video of the song here.
